Daikin is the brand of Heat Pumps we have chosen to hang our hat on here at South Shore HVAC. There are many popular brands, but there are three key reasons we chose the Daikin brand over everything else that’s out there.
In this post, we’re going to discuss Daikin the company, their warranty and their efficiency.
These are the three reasons we chose to supply and install Daikin heat pumps, and why we recommend that you, a south shore area homeowner, should be installing one in your home if you’re shopping for a heat pump.

#1. The Company with a Sole Focus on Refrigeration
Daikin is one of the world leaders in refrigeration. They were the inventor of the VRV (variable refrigerant volume) systems and co-developed the current industry standard of refrigeration for residential heat pump applications, R-410A. The company was founded in 1924. However, it’s only held the name Daikin Industries Ltd since 1982.
As a residential heat pump brand, Daikin’s strongest feature is that it only makes refrigeration products. No electronics, cars or phones, just refrigeration products.
Because of this sole focus on refrigeration Daikin makes many of the parts they use in the ductless and ducted heat pumps, most notably the compressor, and offer the best heat pump warranty in the industry.
#2. The 12-Year Heat Pump Warranty
If you purchase your Daikin heat pump from a Comfort Pro dealer (which we are at South Shore HVAC), you’ll receive a 12-year warranty on the outdoor and indoor units. This is as much as double what other brands offer in the residential heat pump industry.
This warranty speaks volumes to the reliability of these machines and how long you can expect to have your ductless, mini-split heat pump run.
#3. The Efficiency to Produce Consistent Heat in Cold Weather
Efficiency is a grey area for heat pumps, mainly because the stats and numbers are somewhat complicated for the average homeowner to understand.
Here’s one straightforward concept that is easy to understand.
Daikin single and multi-zone heat pumps maintain their rated output down to -15° and down as low as -20°C for some models. The ability to maintain consistent heat means a 12,000 BTU heat pump will continue to produce that 12,000 BTU’s of heat or more.
It comes as a surprise to many, but the majority of heat pumps don’t produce their rated output of heat as it gets colder. Before you buy, be sure to ask your contractor how much heat the machine you’re installing puts out at -20°C. Most heat pumps work just fine at -8°C or so, but when it hits the coldest part of the winter, you want to ensure your machine will work.
